Do you have a favorite book series or author? Summer offers a wonderful opportunity to spend time reading for pleasure. We are challenging our students to read and write five or more book reviews this summer. Sharing your opinion of a book provides a fun and authentic purpose for writing. It also helps others discover books of interest.
For students with access to technology rising to grades 2-5, we are encouraging the use of Biblionasium. It is the GoodRead for kids! Students can log into the FME Media center catalog and access a secure online community where book reviews can be posted for other FME students. For students without access to technology or in rising to grades K-1, a paper template is available for book reviews. The media center will proudly display the reviews for students to read in the media center. Whether sharing online on paper, book reviews should only be written once the entire book has been read, and all of the required questions should be addressed in complete sentences. Students completing five or more reviews will be invite to a special breakfast in the media center once school begins in the August. The student in each grade completing the most book reviews will be awarded a free book at the first book fair! Get the template and access directions for using Biblionaium here!
